Primary drawing research.

For designing the character of 'Milk Boy' I decided to purchase some different types of milk/juice based around their package design. I hope with analyzing the different sizes and shapes, I can determine how I want my character to look like.

The image above shows different types in which milk/juice is packaged. I have considered the sizes, shape and angles in which the objects can be seen from. From this I will draw which I find the most visually appealing for my character design.

Here are some drawings I did based around my favourite milk packaging. I really liked the idea of a cardboard carton, as it's traditional and primarily associated with milk. I also liked the idea of keeping  the carton small. This gives character to the packaging and makes it appear 'child' like compared to it's bigger piers.

I condensed some favourite packaging forms again and decided to play about with how I could represent emotion through them. I bent and crushed the cartons into different ways that I believe could portray personalities. From experimenting, I decided to draw up some examples of representing emotion through the shape without adding facial features. In doing this practice, I can understand the construction of the packaging, it's surface, shape and density. So when it comes to drawing my own, I will have a greater understanding of how to add these features properly.
