Inspiration

Toki Doki:

I find it quite ironic how often I mention the works in the Toki Doki franchise. However, it was a vital part of my inspiration as with artistic style, such as use of colour and outline. Also it was the various designs of actual Milk Cartons I found appealing, especially based around my target audience. They look child like based around their aesthetic appeal, bright colours and simplistic shapes. Even though Legno is an Italian artist, his work has a lot of referencing to Japanese culture, where this artistic style is often associated with. The big eyes and 'cute' expressions are often derived from modern Japanese 'pop' culture. It is still with that style, appeals to me most in my ideas for this Interactive Narrative.

Blur Video 'Coffee and Tv':

Another inspiration is from an old 90's music video called 'Coffee and Tv' by a famous British band known as 'Blur'. In the music video, a Milk carton character embarks on a journey to reunite a lost son (member of the band) with his family. On his travels he encounters excitement, danger and even love. It is with his brave adventure that he brings happiness and peace back to the family, resulting in a happy fairy tale wedding. Although the video's way of representing this isn't ideally aimed for children, it has a slightly mature approach.

I have taken a series of screenshots breaking down the areas in which action take place:
